Established in 1987, NGC is an independent third-party coin rating service organization, and the official rating service organization of American Coin Association, Professional Coin Industry Association, Macau Coin Society, National Silver Round Table, Round Table Trading Co., Ltd. and Coin Merchants' Mutual Assistance Platform. Since 1995, NGC has become the only official rating agency of ANA of American Coin Association and the designated rating agency of Professional Coin Collectors Association.
