Will ODM company develop like Compal and Wistron in the future?

Compared with ODM manufacturers, OEM still has many obvious advantages: first-class capital scale, global manufacturing, procurement, logistics and after-sales service, and extensive product and manufacturing experience. When the market is in a downturn, the production capacity is largely idle, and the scale advantage becomes a disadvantage. However, when the economic situation improves, OEM can quickly regain its vitality. On the other hand, ODM, with its distinctive main body in China, regional characteristics in Greater China and narrow product line, makes people feel that it has not succeeded in a novel and unique business model, but that the electronics manufacturing group in Taiwan Province Province has met a godsend opportunity under the favorable conditions. The outstanding advantage of this group lies in the lower price of incoming materials and the lower overall operating expenses. If OEM can close the cost distance with ODM, or in the field where cost is not the decisive factor, ODM may face great resistance. In fact, these two groups are trying to make up for their weaknesses: some world-class leading OEMs are transferring their manufacturing capabilities to low-cost Asia, trying to localize their production and material supply, while some ODM manufacturers are also extending their tentacles to all parts of the world.
