Life is quiet because of reading.

Speaker: Yu

Life is quiet because of reading.

Yu Wenxin Lecture Hall teaches "The Method of Reading"

How to study quietly in an impetuous society? On the afternoon of June 22nd, Yu, a famous cultural scholar, walked into the Wenxin lecture hall of Zhenjiang Library and gave a lecture entitled "Life is quiet because of reading". Combined with my rich experience, I told the way of peace, taught the method of reading, and profoundly explained the significance of reading to life.

Yu told people from the beginning that the greatest sorrow of people is not a sudden disaster, but a state of restlessness and bustle. One way to get rid of the noise is reading. Reading greatly expands the time and space of life and improves the quality of life. As long as people can calm down and study, all the agitation will be insignificant. He expounded how to keep "the way of peace" through reading from four aspects: the way of great love, the way of gentleman, the way of the mean and the way of chic. In the face of the present situation that publishing and the Internet bring huge amounts of information, Yu has prescribed four effective "prescriptions" for reading: graded reading; Concentrate on reading a book or read a book for a while; Read your favorite books corresponding to the life structure; Write reading notes.

Yu seriously pointed out that people's life is limited and their reading time is limited. There is too much cultural rubbish now, so when reading, we must sort different types of books to keep our reading in an orderly state. Only by standing on the commanding heights can we learn the essence. He suggested that the library should make more bibliographic recommendations. He believes that when some books can't be read, just put them down and don't read them, even if they are masterpieces. Maybe it has nothing to do with it, maybe not for a while, but maybe I can read it again later. For example, he couldn't stand reading A Dream of Red Mansions at first, and then he studied A Dream of Red Mansions. He also does not advocate plagiarism or punching cards in reading, which may affect the overall understanding of the book because of a few words. He should learn to express himself in his own language, and combine his reading experience with the contents of the book to write reading notes and articles, so as to deepen his understanding of the book. I ask everyone to strengthen reading and make themselves a cultural gentleman.

Finally, Yu also interacted with the audience, answered all the questions that everyone was concerned about, and revealed that he didn't want to be a judge in the next session because the youth song competition was too long.

This lecture is the fifth lecture of Zhenjiang Reading Festival series "Reading Classics, Savoring Life and Inheriting Civilization", sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Cultural Bureau, and undertaken by the Municipal Trading Company and the Municipal Library.
