Development of polyimide fiber in China

Aoshen New Materials Co., Ltd., located in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, successfully trial-produced polyimide fiber (PI fiber). This new fiber can effectively capture PM2.5 particles at high temperature and protect the air from pollution. This product will provide key core materials for the environmental protection industry after the latest national environmental air quality standards are fully implemented.

Jiangsu Aoshen Group seized the strategic opportunity and established Jiangsu Aoshen New Materials Co., Ltd. on 20 1 1 to jointly develop polyimide fiber with Donghua University. The trial-produced polyimide fiber project has a total investment of 500 million yuan, and adopts dry spinning and integrated production technology with independent intellectual property rights, with high production efficiency, good product uniformity and high solvent recovery rate. In addition, the project team has successfully developed a set of polyimide fiber production equipment.

It is reported that during the implementation of the project, two authorized patents have been obtained, namely, the spinneret for dry spinning polyimide profiled fiber and the cyclization device for polyimide fiber, and the exclusive patent for the preparation method of carbon nanotube/polyimide composite fiber.

The newly published Environmental Air Quality Standard in February this year specially increased the monitoring index of PM2.5, and the standard will be fully implemented on 20 16. Polyimide fiber is a strategic new material and high-tech fiber product urgently needed by the people during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period. (China Journal of Chemistry)
