China imported the technology of Siemens AG (partially imported) to produce distributed EMUs with a speed of 300km/h. CRH5 EMU is a high-speed train introduced by China people and the Ministry of Railways from Alstom, France for the sixth speed increase of China Railway.

This model adopts distributed power design and is based on Pendolino wide-body tilting train of the same factory, but it will not be equipped with tilting function.
