What are French state-owned enterprises?

The first thing that comes to mind is SNCF (La Socié té Nationale des Chemins de fer), which goes on strike for one day and enjoys state subsidies.

French state-owned enterprises are called public enterprises or state enterprises.

Most of the road and railway operations are state-owned enterprises (some of which are mostly state-owned), such as SNCF mentioned above, and Ré gie Autonome des transports Paris (RATP Paris Public Transport System).

EDF and La Poste are also state-owned enterprises.
