Production technology of methyl tert-butyl ether

Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is generally synthesized from methanol and isobutylene with the aid of acid catalyst, among which resin catalyst is the most widely used in industry. Among them, due to the different sources of isobutylene, different synthesis routes have been formed. Source of isobutylene:-C4 fraction by-product of ethylene cracking-C4 fraction by-product of catalytic cracking unit in refinery-catalyst for synthesizing MTBE by isomerization dehydrogenation of n-butane:-hydrofluoric acid-sulfuric acid-styrene cation exchange resin-solid acid-molecular sieve.
