Qishuyan was named after "Qi family lived in Shenfu" in the Song Dynasty, and was called Shu Qi Port earlier, belonging to Wujin.
In the fourth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1726), Wujin and Yanghu were under the jurisdiction of Yanghu County. After the Revolution of 1911, they merged with Wujin and Yanghu and were incorporated into Wujin.
The town was founded in 18 (1929). In the thirty-sixth year of the Republic of China (1947), Wujin County established Qishuyan District, which governs Qishuyan, Jiao Shan, Henglin, Luoyang, Furong and other towns 14.
1April 23, 949, Qishuyan was liberated, and Wujin County People's Government was stationed in Zhu Fang, Qishuyan District. In May, the new Qishuyan District of Wujin County was established, initially administering 10 township, and in June, administering 14 township.
