Intelligent Transportation Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University is the key laboratory of intelligent transportation system in Guangdong Province.

With the strong support of Guangdong Science and Technology Department and Sun Yat-sen University, the laboratory is striving to build an important scientific research, education and industrialization base in the field of intelligent transportation in Guangdong Province.

The laboratory has four research rooms and traffic information service center, including traffic simulation and environment research room, ITS-3S research room, traffic navigation and monitoring research room and ITS planning and policy research room. There are more than 40 researchers, including 7 professors (6 doctoral supervisors), 3 associate professors 10, 3 senior engineers and more than 40 graduate students (including doctoral students 10). The laboratory covers an area of 1600 square meters, and has 2 sets of satellite ground stations, various mainstream GIS platforms at home and abroad (worth 3 million yuan), various scale urban electronic maps and road network maps of Guangdong Province, 30-meter resolution satellite images of Guangdong Province, satellite (aerial) images of some areas 10 m and 1 m, computer network system and GPS.

Taking the laboratory construction as an opportunity and relying on it, Sun Yat-sen University started the construction of key disciplines of intelligent transportation, opened undergraduate and master programs of traffic engineering, and opened a master program of engineering oriented to practical applications, with more than 200 students of all kinds. In the past three years, the laboratory has undertaken more than 20 research projects and published more than 50 articles. Guangdong Province and Sun Yat-sen University have invested more than 20 million yuan in laboratory and project research. The research scope covers the development of traffic monitoring system and equipment, information collection and communication, traffic simulation and environment, traffic policy and planning, etc. At the same time, through the cooperation with high-tech enterprise-Guangzhou Fang Wei Communications Technology Co., Ltd., we will actively promote the development of industrialization. In the past three years, * * * has obtained eight software copyrights, and many products have been put into the market. Another two sets of products have passed the quality and technical certification of relevant departments, and many research results have been applied in Guangdong Traffic Management Bureau and Guangzhou Public Transport Management Office.
