Distribution of Main Mineral Resources in China

Copper is the main mineral resource in China, with more than half of its reserves in East China and Southwest China, including Jiangxi, Yunnan, Tibet and Anhui provinces. Copper is widely distributed, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are one of the concentrated areas. Baiyinchang in Gansu, Dongchuan in Yunnan and Zhongtiaoshan in Shanxi are also famous big mines. The deposit types are mainly porphyry type and contact metasomatism type, the former is represented by Dexing, Jiangxi, and the latter is represented by Daye, Hubei and Tongling, Anhui.

Most aluminum mines in China are sedimentary bauxite, and diaspore is the main ore, with relatively low Al-Si ratio and inferior smelting performance to gibbsite. Its main producing areas are in central Shanxi, Gongxian County of Henan, Xiushui of Guizhou, Zibo of Shandong and Pingguo of Guangxi. Bauxite in Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui provinces can also be used for comprehensive utilization of aluminum resources.
