In the design project, Hertz Company encountered two problems. First of all, every branch outside the United States has its own unique database. Secondly, in terms of car rental, every country has many important cultural differences. For example, in France, cars are usually rented with drivers. The company's design team listened carefully to some different opinions and specially recorded some different information, which will be kept in the customer background records to meet the needs of different countries.
After investigation and experiment, it is obvious that the only way to ensure that customers can get the same service from companies all over the world is to have a unique global customer database, which requires the tight integration of reservation and computing systems covering the whole world.
In order to solve this problem, Hertz Company has expanded the # 1 club database, and summarized the company's individual customer databases in different regions of the world to form a unified and global customer database. At the same time, new interfaces are inserted between background database, reservation system, billing system, credit card authorization application software and automobile inventory and utility database (all distributed all over the world).
At present, Hertz has established a global unified customer database in the data center in Oklahoma City, which can collect information of customers all over the world at any time through the Internet.
