Boeing Company was originally headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and moved to Chicago, Illinois in September, 20001. Boeing has been the world's leading manufacturer of civil aircraft for more than 40 years, and has been in a leading position in the fields of military aircraft, satellites, manned space flight and launch vehicles. At present, Boeing has customers in more than 40 countries and regions around the world, and has about154,000 employees in 48 States of the United States and overseas. Its main business bases are concentrated in Seattle, Southern California, Wichita, Kansas and St. Louis. In 2005, Boeing's turnover was $54.8 billion. Boeing has four major business groups, namely Boeing Finance Company, Boeing Civil Aircraft Group, Boeing Connection Company and Boeing Integrated Defense System Group. Boeing's existing main civil aircraft products include Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777 series aircraft and Boeing business jets. At present, there are about1.2000 Boeing civil aircraft operating in the world, accounting for about 75% of the total number of civil aircraft. Boeing's new product research and development focuses on Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which is expected to be put into operation in 2008.
