Maanshan, referred to as "Ma" for short, is a prefecture-level city in Anhui Province and one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta. It is a modern processing and manufacturing base in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China and a tourist city along the Yangtze River approved by the State Council.
Maanshan City is located on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, in the east of Anhui Province, adjacent to Shijiu Lake in the east, and bordering Lishui County and Gaochun County in Jiangsu Province. It is bordered by the Yangtze River and the county town in the west and the suburbs of Wuhu, Wuhu County and Xuancheng City in the south. Jiangning District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, is adjacent to the north, and Linjiang has a superior geographical position, close to the economically developed Yangtze River Delta.
Maanshan is a city inhabited by ethnic minorities. There are 43 ethnic minorities in the city's permanent population, including about10.3 million Hui people, accounting for 65% of the total population of ethnic minorities.
Maanshan straddles the Yangtze River and borders Nanjing. Since ancient times, it has been known as "Jinling Barrier and Jiankang Lock Key". As early as the Six Dynasties, many famous officials and dignitaries lingered in Maanshan, leaving behind many historical and cultural relics.
Maanshan is rich in tourism resources, including Baochan, Caishiji, Yushan Lake, Wujiang River, Li Bai Mausoleum, Jilong Mountain, Bawang Ancestral Temple and other famous scenic spots.
