Railway fans are everywhere.

In Hong Kong, due to the urban rail transit system network, it has to compete with the existing bus network; The latter has developed information and fan culture, so there may be fewer railway fans who simply like railway information. Other railway fans were introduced by bus fans. It is also an organization of bus and railway enthusiasts, and its members are often called or call themselves "Batie fans". It is difficult for ordinary people to get detailed information about the railway system in Hong Kong: for reasons such as "commercial, safety or copyright protection", railway fans in Hong Kong rarely share some relevant railway transportation information, such as the operation mechanism of the railway system in Hong Kong. As for the basic railway information in Hong Kong, apart from the publicity print and newspaper and magazine reports of MTR Corporation, other in-depth railway information is only shared in some railway enthusiasts' organizations or railway information forums.

However, some MTR fans often collect and list the railway information in Hong Kong, including railway routes, stations and trains. It has made great contributions to the outside world to understand the railway system.

At present, the main railway fan organizations in Hong Kong are Hong Kong Railway Association, Hong Kong Railway Union and Hong Kong Model Railway Union (BVEHK). Friends of the World Traffic also have many railway fans to participate in and hold railway fan activities. In Chinese mainland, there are a certain number of railway fans, and there are also many railway forums on the Internet for railway fans to exchange, such as Haizi Railway Network, subway people and so on.

Due to the political environment in Chinese mainland, local railway fans have many taboos, such as not filming military trains and government officials' special trains, which are forbidden. In addition, it often happens that railway fans are driven away by railway police and security guards during filming, and the way of driving away is generally verbal warning. However, expellers generally fail to come up with relevant regulations, usually for no reason or on the grounds of security. Most mainland railway fans can cooperate with the police, but some fans may take some irrational actions (generally aimed at security guards), because the relevant regulations of China Railway do not stipulate that it is not allowed to shoot trains, but there are relevant regulations prohibiting them from entering closed electrified or high-speed railways.

Despite many restrictions and taboos, Chinese mainland railway fans still enthusiastically share some information about local trains, railway technology and railway systems around the world. The official did not stop it. Some railway magazines also cooperated with the Ministry of Railways to hold a railway photography competition.

However, it seems that railway fans are still not widely recognized in Chinese mainland, and people often cast different eyes when shooting. Because in the eyes of ordinary people on the mainland, the train is just a means of transportation. On the mainland, the railway culture has not yet risen to a good height. All this seems to depend on the efforts of railway fans at this stage.

Regarding the relationship with fans outside Chinese mainland, fans in Chinese mainland generally like to communicate with non-local fans. On the internet, you can often see the friendly exchanges between foreign, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan railway enthusiasts and mainland car fans. These exchanges are not influenced by political factors.
