In 2004, the company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Water Resources Department of Yunnan, Ningxia and Xinjiang provinces (autonomous regions), registered and established Yunnan Longjiang Water Control Project Development Co., Ltd., and acquired and reorganized Ningxia Shapotou Water Control Project Co., Ltd. and Xinjiang Shui Xin Co., Ltd.
In 2006, the company acquired and reorganized Wuxi Suyuan Power Generation Company (later renamed Wuxi Xinhua New Energy Development Co., Ltd.).
In 2007, the company established Shaanxi Xinhua Water Conservancy and Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd. and Yuxi Xinhua Water Conservancy and Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd., and established Hunan Xinhua Water Conservancy and Electric Power Co., Ltd. together with Hunan Water Conservancy and Electric Power Co., Ltd. affiliated to Hunan Provincial Water Resources Department.
In 2009, the Comprehensive Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources implemented the (second) industrial development reform, reorganized and established Xinhua Hydropower Co., Ltd., and injected all hydropower and clean energy assets into the new company.
20 14 14, China nuclear construction group co., ltd and the Ministry of water resources reached a strategic cooperation on equity restructuring and became the controlling shareholder of Xinhua power generation.
