Tongji University team develops vaccination robot: painless and needle-free.

According to Wen Wei Po, the team led by Peng Qi, an associate professor at Tongji University, officially released a fully automatic needle-free vaccine injection robot. This project is based on the world-leading three-dimensional model recognition algorithm and adaptive robot technology, combined with the design of needle-free injector with mechatronics, and joined with many technical enterprises (Fei Technology, Beijing Kuaishure Medical Technology Co., Ltd.) and China Cardiovascular Doctor Innovation Club () * * *.

It is understood that this robot is called "Houyi". According to Peng Qi, the automatic vaccine injection robot can automatically identify the designated vaccine injection position on human body, such as the commonly used upper limb deltoid muscle. The injection process is roughly divided into three steps. Firstly, the vaccine automatic injection robot shoots the human body through a simple three-dimensional point cloud camera, quickly and automatically fits the three-dimensional model of the corresponding part of the human body, and accurately identifies the injection site and injection angle. At the same time, the seven-axis force-controlled adaptive manipulator has high-precision and fast-response force control performance. The application of high-precision force-controlled fitting algorithm can ensure that the end of the syringe is vertically and closely fitted with the injection site, improve the injection effect and reduce the pain experience.

Then, the needle-free injection part of the robot can push the medicine out of a very thin nozzle through a high-pressure water column to form a jet, which passes through the skin at high speed and directly enters the treatment site. The medicine tube is sterile and disposable, and it is discarded after injection to ensure the safety of use.

Aiming at the hospital application scene of vaccine injection, the robot injection system currently adopts pneumatic driving technology, which has the advantage of being suitable for rapid and continuous injection. The injection of liquid medicine can be completed in half a second, and the injection accuracy can reach 0.0 1mL, which can meet the requirements of different vaccines for injection dosage. At the same time, it also has the function of adjusting the injection depth, which can be applied to different kinds of vaccines injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly. The closer the needle sticks to the skin surface, the more vertical the contact angle, the better the injection effect and the less the pain.
