The main application of MDT is to test formation pressure. According to the sample points designed by geologists, the formation pressure at the sample points is tested and the pressure gradient is regressed, so as to judge the possible fluid types. The fluid in the formation can also be directly extracted from the sampling point for further chemical analysis.
MDT modular formation tester is the third generation cable formation tester of Schlumberger company, which is the same as the other two generations, the first generation FT and the second generation RFT. Compared with cable formation tester, it has made great progress in formation testing technology and service.
With strong combination ability, it has advantages in real-time monitoring of fluid dynamics, strict pressure control sampling, full-face sealing test of double packers, simultaneous measurement of multiple probes, etc., and has made great achievements in oil and gas exploration.
