Why are some independent directors unpaid?

Generally, senior executives in companies are not paid when they serve as directors, especially those in groups who serve as directors of listed companies.

In fact, except for independent directors, the salaries of other directors are generally low. Excessive remuneration will affect the independence and impartiality of directors, and the regulatory authorities will also intervene. But because of my efforts, I usually give some compensation.

But for the director within the group, this may be his job. He has received remuneration from other companies in the group, and usually he no longer pays remuneration.
