Wuliangye has been inherited for more than 1000 years, from Chongbi liquor in the prosperous Tang Dynasty to Yao Zixue Qu in the Song Dynasty and miscellaneous grains liquor in the early Ming Dynasty, and finally it was officially named in 1909.

Wuliangye Group, formerly known as the State-owned No.24 Brewery of Yibin Daqu Brewing Industry Joint Venture, was established in 1952 on the basis of eight brewing workshops, including Changfasheng, Li Chuanyong, Zhang Wanhe, Zhong Sanhe, Liu Dingxing, Wan Li Yuanchang, Tingyuelou and QuanHeng Chang.
