In 20 12, the Ministry of Communications of China initiated the Beipanjiang Bridge (the first Beipanjiang Bridge) research project, which was undertaken by Guizhou Expressway Group Co., Ltd. in cooperation with China Communications Highway Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., Southwest Jiaotong University, Guizhou Provincial Highway Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and China Communications Second Waterway Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., and was a traffic construction project in the west.
20 13 The first bridge of Beipanjiang started construction, which was jointly built by Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.

At 9: 00 am on February 29th, the Beipanjiang Bridge across Yunnan and Guizhou provinces was officially opened to traffic at 20 16 16. The height difference between the bridge deck and the river surface of Beipanjiang Bridge is 565 meters, which is equivalent to about 200 stories high. It is the first Gao Qiao in the world at present.
The completion of the bridge marks that the Hangzhou-Ruirui Expressway (G56) from Hangzhou in the east to Ruili Port in Yunnan via Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou will soon be fully completed and opened to traffic.
