How are the important materials of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway transported, and which areas will the Qinghai-Tibet Railway pass along?
The Golmud section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway starts from Qinghai in the east and ends in Lhasa, Tibet in the west, with a total length of 1 142 km, of which the newly-built line110km was officially started on June 29th, 2006. Pass Nachitai, Wudaoliang, Tuotuo River and Yanshiping, pass Tanggula Mountain, and then pass Amdo, Naqu, Dangxiong and Yangbajing in Xizang Autonomous Region to Lhasa. Among them, there are 960 kilometers above 4000 meters above sea level, 550 kilometers in frozen soil, and the highest point of the railway crossing Tanggula Mountain is 5072 meters above sea level. It is the plateau railway with the highest altitude in the world, the longest journey on frozen soil and overcoming world-class difficulties.
