It is a joint venture between the government of the Republic of China and Curtis Wright Aircraft Company of the United States.
After Shanghai, the former base of China Airlines, fell, China Airlines retreated to Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport on 1949 with the plan of Taiwan Province's retreat of the Republic of China. After moving to Hong Kong Airport, internal strife occurred in the company. Later, "Liu Jingyi", then general manager of China Airlines, led some employees and 12 planes to fly back to China together with another domestic civil aviation "Central Airlines", which was called "Second Aviation Uprising" in history. After the uprising of the two airlines, China Airlines also announced its dissolution, and all the remaining 83 planes stranded in Hong Kong returned to the United States after the judgment of the British court, becoming the first crew members of China Civil Aviation, and the remaining two pilots who left Taiwan Province with the government also became the first crew members.
