DirectTV and Hughes network system were acquired by News Corporation in 2003. In 2006, SkyTerra Communications acquired the controlling stake of Hughes Network Systems 100%. Despite many mergers and acquisitions, Hughes network system is still named after Hughes. Hughes Aircraft Company used to be a factory in Southern California, but now it is used by DreamWorks, a film production company.
