The Qing court originally planned to use these two ships to defend Taiwan Province and Peng, and later changed them to Beiyang Navy. The second ship participated in the Yellow Sea Armageddon of 1894 in September of 17. After Zhiyuan ran out of ammunition and suffered heavy losses, Deng Shichang ordered the ship to rush to Yoshino, the capital ship of the Japanese fleet, in order to end up with the enemy. Unfortunately, it was hit by an enemy torpedo tube, which caused the torpedo in the tube to explode and sink, and 246 officers and men on board died for their country. When Beiyang Navy lost the unified command of the "Jingyuan" ship in the later period of the Yellow Sea War, Ye Zugui, the pipeline leader, resolutely ordered that the command flag be raised to command the whole fleet to continue fighting, which was hit by the concentrated fire of Japanese ships (* * * was shot 1 10). The "Jingyuan" ship then participated in the Weihaiwei Defence War. After being hit hard, it was sunk by the "Guangbing" ship on February 9 1895 to avoid falling into the enemy.
