Is it because of poor marketing or poor performance? So what exactly is stroke ACR? First of all, the predecessor of ACR is Masada rifle developed by Magap Company. Magap was not originally a gun factory, but a manufacturer mainly selling tactical accessories.
Founded by fitzpatrick, a former marine. Their products are easy to identify. For example, the rapidly expanding magazine Eat Chicken takes the shape of PMAG magazine of Magap House. Of course, the products are not only magazines, but also a series of accessories such as wooden guards, gun grips, gun butts and strap rings. It can be understood that Magap Company is a hard-core tactical company which mainly focuses on tactical accessories and extends to tactical training courses.
It is impossible for this company to design a new gun, but it is no problem to directly combine the highly modular rifle structures on the market to create a "sewing monster". Masaadeh is such a highly hardcore sewing monster rifle.
But here's the problem, Magap. At that time, it was just a company that produced plastic tactical parts. It's okay to build a gun butt, but it's not necessary to build a whole gun. So I found the production of the big snake company. Founded in 1970s, this company is a gun company mainly engaged in civilian weapons, and its main products are AR series.
Because the LOGO is badly designed, it is generally called a shit snake by military friends. The shit snake gave Masaadeh a new name-ACR (adaptive combat rifle), and the whole B-grid was improved a lot at once. Isn't it a bit like FN scar just by looking at it? That's right, because ACR itself is Magap's sewing monster, it also takes SCAR's highly modular route.
Structurally speaking, it belongs to the mainstream configuration after 2000, with short piston to guide gas and bolt locking. The whole bolt structure looks similar to G36 and SCar, but the short piston AR is mostly a disciple of AR 18 (HK4 16 is a modification of AR 15). Therefore, the operation mode of ACR is closer to G36 and SCAR, and at least the position of the handle and the foldable stock are the main differences from AR 15.
Now that the gun is ready, let's take two steps. Viper company has always had a good reputation among the people, so it is responsible for the sales of the civilian version of ACR. Both Viper and Remington have been acquired by Sablus Consortium (CCM), and Remington has been working with the military.
So the military version of ACR is sold by Remington. So we can see that ACR has three heads, one of which is called MacGup Masaadeh. One is Bushmaster ACR, and the military version is Remington ACR, but there is no difference between them.
The U.S. military has released a new bidding plan for individual carbine. The main consideration is that the original M4A 1 has a short barrel and the performance of the old M855 rifle cartridge is not ideal. So I want to purchase a batch of new carbines to fire the newly developed M85A 1 rifle bullets instead of M4A 1. The total price of this tender is as high as/kloc-0.8 billion US dollars, which is a huge sum for any gun factory, and several famous companies participated in the bidding.
Besides Remington ACR, there are FNFNFNAC, HK4 16A5, Beretta ARX 160, Colt enhanced M4, Adcor A-556, etc. However, this matter is endless. After deliberation, Congress decided that M4A 1 can be used to type M85A 1. Buying a new batch of carbines is limited to the improvement of operational effectiveness, which is why ACR is so yellow. Generally speaking, the failure of ACR can be attributed to two aspects.
This civilian work is very expensive, because Magap continues its high standard in design, and the official guide price is close to 3000 dollars.
This price is outrageous. You should know that the general price of semi-automatic rifles made in the United States is within 1500. The price of Viper is obviously lower than that of HK MR556 (civilian model 4 16) or FN Scar 16s from Europe, although they are also close to $3,000.
As the military said before, if the individual carbine aborts, the US military will not have a big rifle procurement plan. Even the special forces buy ACR in small quantities, but this order is not enough for Remington to drink northwest wind. It may be the same reason that SCAR failed in the US military, so the US military tends to use the same short piston, but operates the same HK4 16 as M4.
